Renault 5 Roland-Garros: game, set and match! News from Auto Plus in your smartphone News from Auto Plus in your mailbox

The news caused a stir in 2022: after 38 years, Peugeot refused to be the official sponsor of the international tennis tournament Roland-Garros. An adventure that began in 1984 that spawned several limited (and luxury) editions. There was, of course, one of the most important: 205 Roland-Garros. Green body, beige green leather interior, specific “RG” logo. From 106 to 806, from 306 to 406, it was equipped with most Peugeot models from 90-2000. More recently, the 206 and 207 also benefited from this. Now this idyll is over, and the new official partner is called…Renault ! Losange has indeed dropped its partnership with the Cannes Film Festival (which has been going on for 39 years) to refocus on sports, specifically tennis!

Renault and Roland Garros

Roland Garros 2023, which will take place from May 22 to June 11 in Pariswill be the first release of Renault. The manufacturer will put their logos, brands and derivatives almost everywhere. It will set up shuttles for players and VIP guests, and use reserved seats. Above all, and we told you this earlier in the week, he will expose a new version of the 4Ever Trophy concept. Painted blue for the occasion, it features several inserts painted fluorescent yellow, a nod to tennis balls. But that’s not all. We just found out Losange will also present a limited edition ‘Roland-Garros’ edition of its R5 electric concept.

Upcoming release for R5?

The serial version of Renault’s new electric city car should be released in 2024. The concept that Renault will present at Roland-Garros is actually 95% close to the final R5. Like Peugeot, Renault is looking to this new partnership to offer an extraordinary version of its new model. But here there is no green on the body, but more subdued satin white livery. She presents specific wings marked with St. Andrew’s crosses characteristics of the walls of the stadium enclosure. We also find stylized Roland-Garros logo on the sides, illuminated for the occasion. Although it’s only a concept, it’s easy to imagine Renault offering such limited editions of its future models. who knows the launch edition of Roland-Garros for the electric R5?
