Here’s what is undoubtedly the best Mini JCW of the current Mini, ahead of the launch of a new generation that will focus on electrification, including several 100% electric versions equipped with different battery sizes.
Meanwhile, Mini presents the John Cooper Works 1to6, special series, produced in only 999 copies which emphasizes aesthetics, but also the feeling of driving.
Heightened feelings?
Nothing moves on the engine side. We always find the famous 2.0-liter turbo 231 hpbut with six-speed manual gearbox this time (hence the name “1to6”), which thus replaces the more classic eight-speed automatic transmission. Something to add some spice to this version of JCW, which is already lacking in basics.
Aesthetically, the 1to6 version has a “Midnight Black” shade and some “Piano Black” elements. From the hood to the rear bumper, including the spoiler, there is a very graphic central strip that is meant to emphasize the sporty history of the Mini.
There is also a specific logo that combines silver, white and red colors and badges on the car’s C-pillar and tailgate. 18-inch Circuit Spoke alloy wheels painted in Jet Black complete the package.
Will be available next fall
Inside, there are also some changes, including the door sills with a screen-printed Special Series logo or an embossed insert on the passenger-side dashboard. The steering wheel also features ‘One of 999’ lettering, indicating the exclusivity of this version, while the gear lever is distinctively styled with red leather stitching.
The Mini John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition will be available in Europe from September 2023but from May 20 it will be previewed at the Nürburgring 24 Hours.
