Defender is still and always in the center of attention! After the old version released by Land Rover, as well as the XXL 130 that entered the service of the Red Cross, it’s time to talk about the new short chassis 90. And for good reason, just like his illustrious elder, he finally takes off the top thanks to a great team of Dutch specialists. Heritage Customs did call on Niels van Rooy to design this Valiance convertible.
Long-term project
The least we can say is that removing the roof from the Defender is a long-term project. Indeed, the latter requires at least 3 steps before having a chance to enjoy, hair in the wind, a convertible English SUV. Before cutting anything or even touching a vehicle, Heritage Customs discusses it with the prospective owner settings. And this is the last boundless! Rims, paint, seats, interior materials and decoration… Absolutely everything can be changed to meet customer requirements!
A sacral arch in addition to a tarpaulin roof
When the customer has decided on the final configuration of his future car, the work begins. Then Heritage Customs cuts off the entire roof as well as everything behind the middle rack. After exposure or at least partial exposure Defender starts by getting a safety cage. And not just any, since the last one is able to pass FIA safety inspection! Just… Once we couldn’t be more sure: the cab is covered by a semi-electric canvas hood.
Exclusive tariff…
All work deserves payment. And given the number, as well as the quality, of the modifications made to the English SUV, the final tally is likely to be salty… Inevitably, each tally is different according to the level of personalization of each example. Heritage Customs is still quoting a price of around €85,000 for the conversion. But be careful, this price only includes some customization options! It also doesn’t include any taxes or even the Defender 90 that was the basis of the project! When we told you this convertible is extremely exclusive…
