Fuel has always been expensive, especially after the end of the Covid-19 epidemic and the start of the war in Ukraine. And it is not for nothing that gasoline and diesel now exceed the threshold of two euros per liter, which clearly makes life difficult for motorists. However, in recent weeks in Europe, the price of fuel has fallen slightly. Everywhere, but not at home. Indeed, it costs no less than 93 cents before taxes per liter in France, compared to barely 81 cents in our neighbors Spain. A clear difference that clearly does not please motorists. But the government also seems a little upset.

Little pressure
Having approached the case a few days earlier, the state wants to go further and decides to put pressure on the distributors. Minister of Energy Transition, Agnes Panier-Runacher urged them to take the necessary measures. The latter really wishes that prices ” reset as soon as possible and claims to have told distributors that ” the price at the pump should reflect as closely as possible what is happening in international oil markets, which are currently falling“. Indeed, the price of oil has fallen sharply in recent weeks, p per barrel about 75 dollars.
Transparency
The minister had already spoken a little earlier, declaring that ” if the blocking has affected costs, this should be communicated transparently“. From now on, the government plans to discuss this topic again with ” of all distributors as part of a meeting on fighting inflation“. It remains to be seen whether these discussions will have an impact if the price of fuel will be reduced over the next few weeks. We can only hope that prices are still very high in France.
