The news around McLaren is pretty solid at the moment, with the unveiling of the new 750S, the successor to the 720S with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 boosted to 750bhp and an even more aerodynamic package.
In addition to unveiling this “new” supercar, which nevertheless relies heavily on the underpinnings of the 720S, there is also news of future McLarens.
New plug-in hybrid hypercar
Indeed, according to Automotive News, several anonymous sources who were able to attend the McLaren dealer meeting announced the rapid arrival of several new products, starting with a new model in the “Ultimate Series” range.
As a reminder, this is the most exclusive McLaren range, including the Senna, Speedtail and other Elvas, but above all the formidable P1, a hybrid supercar with a capacity of 916 hp.
According to the first information, this model will arrive in 2026, will be a hybrid and have a power unit 70% lighter than the Artura, being much more powerful. Like the P1, production of this model will be very limited.
SUV or electric sedan in boxes
Less pleasing to track enthusiasts, McLaren has resigned for a few months and intends to offer an SUV. We’re not talking SUVs, strictly speaking, in Woking, rather a car with “four doors for four passengers”. McLaren subtly updates the words a bit like Ferrari and its Purosangue, which doesn’t really consider itself an SUV. This model is expected in 2028.
Recall that Michael Leiters, the boss of McLaren, has a certain penchant for SUVs, as he has already worked on the Porsche Cayenne and Ferrari Purosangue projects. Moreover, according to some rumors, the British brand has already started developing a model that can be 100% electric. An elegant sedan that can become a direct competitor to the Porsche Taycan is also not excluded.
