As you know, the days, or rather the years, of electric cars are numbered. Indeed, the European Union plans to ban their sale from 2035, citing the fact that they pollute the environment. Brussels really wants to reduce emissions by 100% since that date in the automotive industry. News that clearly does not please either manufacturers or motorists, many of whom are not yet ready to switch to zero emissions. Mainly because of cost, as electric cars are still very expensive today. But other things are being prepared for the ban on thermals…

A new standard
Indeed, the European Union has also recently announced implementation Euro 7 standard, which will tighten the screw a little more for internal combustion cars. It should then come into effect from the summer of 2025 for all new cars sold on the Old Continent. And this new standard is obviously much more demanding, requiring cars to be adjusted to stay in line. However, these developments are very expensive and may threaten the extinction of certain small cars. This especially applies to the Volkswagen Polo, as well as the Skoda Fabia, which may go out of production.
To extinction?
The boss of the Czech brand Klaus Zelmer explains that ” if the Euro7 standards adopt the planned levels, it will no longer be possible to keep the Fabia at the current price of the model. Will base price customers like it? more than 23,000 euros ? I do not think so“. Thus, the city car may leave the catalog and be replaced later by a 100% electric version, the characteristics of which have not been disclosed. At Audi, we already know that the A1 will not have a direct descendant either, and the company will soon go electric.
