While car prices continue to fall and sales are doing quite well, Tesla is not forgetting the entire ecosystem that revolves around it, starting with its charging network.

But where exactly is Tesla with its network of Superchargers? According to the latest data, the American firm continues to thicken its network, and the number of charging stations in the world increased significantly in the first quarter of 2023. with 269 additional stationshaving increased by 8.5%.

Impressive growth

However, this is not a record. For this we have to look at the fourth quarter of 2022 with the opening of 395 new Superchargers.

Yes, in the 1st quarter of 2023. 2,750 new Tesla charging stations were installed worldwide, increasing by 27%, but this is not an absolute record for the quarter, since in the last quarter of last year, the American firm put into operation no less than 3,536 charging stations in the world. In addition, the average number of terminals at each station increased from 8.7 at the beginning of 2022 to 9.1 today.

In the modern world there is 4947 stations (+33% for the year) and 45,169 charging stations (+34% for the year). If Tesla maintains this rate of growth, the goal of 50,000 Supercharger stations worldwide will be reached well before the end of 2023, probably in the third quarter. Continuous growth that started in 2012 with the first station and continues to this day.

More and more powerful terminals

The growth of Tesla’s charging network has been quite impressive in recent years. There were 10,000 terminals in June 2018, 20,000 in November 2020, 30,000 a year later, 35,000 in June 2022, 40,000 in November of the same year, and 45,000 in April 2023.

Tesla Superchargers currently offer up to 250 kW, but it should increase to 300 kW or even 325 kW with V3 Superchargers, before the commissioning of V4 Superchargers, whose charging power can reach 350 kW. The ultimate goal would be to reach 600 kW.
