A revolution in Jaguar Land Rover. The British group is preparing to completely change its face, both commercially and industrially, with the launch of new 100% electric models, which will be accompanied by three new “sub-brands”.
Significant changes are also planned for manufacturing facilities, with £15bn of investment over the next five years.
The Land Rover leans back
Jaguar Land Rover is divided into four different brands. In addition to Jaguar (whose managing director will be Rowdon Glover), there will now be Range Rover (director Geraldine Ingham), Defender and Discovery (these two companies will be managed by Mark Cameron). This strategy, called “Reimagine”, will allow the separation of several product lines based on different philosophies.
The new models will be built on the EMA architecture, a platform designed exclusively for electric cars. At the same time, the MLA (Modular Longitudinal Architecture) platform, which gave birth to the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport and will be used for future thermal, hybrid and electric variants, will not be abandoned immediately.
The next important deadline for the group is the arrival of the electric Range Rover, which can be ordered before the end of 2023, and a fully electrified mid-size model to be introduced in 2025 and built in Halewood, Merseyside. Finally, by 2030 all Range Rover, Discovery and Defender models will be electric.
A new era for Jaguar
Jaguar is about to open a new chapter in its history with three “Modern Luxury” models. The first will be a four-door GT built in Solihull, West Midlands, with a range of 700 km, a price of around €100,000 and a new architecture called JEA.
More details will be known during the year. Sales will begin in 2024, and the first deliveries are expected in 2025. several electric models will be added to the rangeincluding SUVs as well as high-end sedans.
