For just over two years, Volvo has been working with Google to develop its latest Android-based infotainment system, which allows users to take advantage of Google apps and services. This offer will soon be completed upon arrivalThe Waze appdirectly on board Volvo models:

Waze app built into Volvo

Thanks to this collaboration, Volvo will offer its customers the opportunity for the first time download the built-in Waze app in your Android infotainment system. The service will soon be rolled out in the Asia-Pacific region (excluding China, South Korea and Vietnam) and the United States before being offered in Europe.

With the Waze app built into Volvo, users will be able to access the popular GPS navigation tool that allows for real-time road alerts and information, all thanks to quick and immediate access from the car’s central touch screen.

The Waze app built into the Volvo will indeed offer all the features of a regular smartphone app, all of them optimized for ergonomics and car use during daily trips: it is perfectly integrated into the infotainment system, using almost the entire surface of the central touchscreen for greater comfort.

Waze: the simplified experience

The Waze in-car app was developed and tested virtually using an Android emulator available on the Volvo Cars developer portal, allowing the team to create a great user experience before officially launching the app in customers’ cars.

To access Volvo’s built-in Waze app, which integrates Android infotainment and Google services, simplyinstall from the Google Play Storeto be able to access it with one click from the central touchscreen.

A subscription to the data required to use the entire infotainment system is included within 4 years from the time of vehicle purchase. In addition, a new paid subscription will be required to continue using Google services: the cost of the upgrade will be announced at a later date.
