For many years, the state authorities have been struggling with a real scourge, especially in large cities. These are urban rodeos that sometimes terrorize the streets, especially among locals who can’t stand it. In addition to the fact that this practice harms the comfort of residents, it is also very dangerous. Indeed, we no longer count the numberserious and sometimes even fatal accidents involvement of drivers of two-wheeled vehicles in “runs” on public roads. But this phenomenon did not escape cars either, on the contrary.

Serious accident

On April 14, a driver behind the wheel of a Citroën C3 was simply driving madly through the streets of Bordeaux-Lac when he missed a turn. As a result, he and three of his passengers were injured, as well as 13 other people who were on the side of the road. Fortunately, there were no casualties, but the case still attracted attention FFMC (French Federation of Angry Bikers), which campaigns for road safety. The organization is calling for the Merignac circuit to be reopened so that motorists and motorcyclists can race in complete safety.

A future re-discovery?

This is reported in the press release of the federation outraged by the decision of the city of Merignac to put an end to various activities at the autodrome [de Bordeaux Mérignac] and proceed to destroy this equipment […] We will remind, 33 FFMK participated in creation of this scheme in the 1980s, to avoid more fatal accidents during wild runs. This prevention tool was opened to all forms of transportation (car, motorcycle, etc.) to improve vehicle control, combat traffic accidents, regulate leisure, and offer the public a safe place“.
