In 1959, the first Mini marked the spirit and history of the car with this small, compact, but brilliant car. It was in 2014 that the British firm released the current generation Mini (F56)which is the fourth generation of the Mini and the third modern creation since its takeover by the German BMW group.
After 110 years of history and almost 10 years of production for this generation, the Mini plant in Oxford, England, has just crossed the symbolic bar produced millions of units for Mini F56. In addition to the historic British production plant, the current 3-door Mini “Hatch” was also built for a time in Born, Netherlands.
Mini (F56): resolutely modern generation
This millionth copy is a 100% electric Mini Cooper SEdressed in a traditional shade of green “British Racing Green” : it winks at the history of the Mini brand, which is preparing to switch to an all-electric car by 2030, and which has just unveiled the next generation of the 100% electric Mini.
Despite two successive facelifts in 2018 and 2021, the Mini still retains the recipe that made it successful, with its round headlights, its taillights with the Union Jack light signature reminiscent of the United Kingdom flag, its striped bonnet or side . ventilation holes.
After the Mini F56 went into production, many versions we saw the world: we find there, in particular, the Mini One First with its 75 horsepower, the more powerful Mini Cooper with 136 horsepower or even the sportier Mini John Cooper Works.
Mini: The story continues
Although the model was initially sold with a diesel or gasoline engine, from 2020 the Mini Cooper SE opened a new generation of electric vehicles. Last year, Mini recorded a significant increase in sales of electrified models: now every fifth Mini sold is electric.
AND the new generation of Minithe fifth will be launched the beginning of 2024 : the first batch of official images were recently revealed, and now it will be powered by a 100% electric motor.
Its styling, more modern and refined, retains the model’s heritage with its round headlights, but ignores certain styling cues such as the plastic wing extensions or the signature light signature, while its grille becomes fuller, more angular and painted in body color.
