
THE Hyundai Motor Group made public his goal of becoming one of the the three largest global manufacturers of electric vehicles by 2030by combining sales of electric models of Hyundai, Kia and Genesis brands.
To this end, the Korean group intends to invest 24 trillion won, equivalent to approx. 16.7 billion eurosin the field of electric vehicles, through its subsidiaries Hyundai Motor, Kia and Hyundai Mobis, by 2030.
Hyundai: annual production of 3.64 million cars
To become one of the world leaders in electric vehicles, Hyundai Motor Group will significantly increase the annual production of electric vehicles in the world, which will grow to 3.64 million units per year until 2030.
It huge investment will lead to the modernization of Korea’s electric vehicle ecosystem, while developing the existing electric vehicle lines in factories to increase the production capacity of electric vehicles.
Investments in R&D are planned for the development of a new generation platform for electric vehicles, the improvement of the model range, the development of basic parts and advanced technologies, not to mention the creation of research facilities.
Hyundai: new platforms for electric cars
To improve the performance of its EVs, Hyundai will also speed up development next generation platforms. In addition to the modular IMA platform, a new “eM” platform will be launched in 2025: it will be exclusively for electric vehicles.
In addition to developing an attractive product range, Hyundai will create a ultra-fast charging infrastructure, to allow its customers to charge their electric vehicles in a simple and practical way. In 2021, Hyundai Group launched E-pit, a brand of high-speed chargers for electric vehicles, accompanied by the E-CSP charging platform.
