Today, all manufacturers strive to make their range 100% electric. everyone? No, the brand is still and always opposed to mass electrification, despite the will of the European Union. This is Toyota, which has never believed in zero-emission cars and never forgets to say so. The Japanese manufacturer believes that a battery hybrid is almost as efficient as a fully electric one, which is absolutely not a viable solution. However, this slowly changes upon arrival new leader Koji Sato, who succeeded Akio Toyoda. And that should change a lot of things for the brand.

Great autonomy

However, it is not tomorrow that Toyota will offer a full electric range, even if the firm wants to accelerate in this direction. Because he still firmly believes in hybridizing his cars, as evidenced by his Prius in particular. Thus, the manufacturer wants to go further and invest heavily to further improve these fashionable models in the future. For this, he plans, in particular, to increase their autonomy. And not quite a few, because the latter could in this way drive 200 kilometers on one charge. A completely unbelievable number, but one that can become a reality.

Real utility?

So, Hiroki Nakajima, the brand’s vice president, explained that he wants to reposition his battery hybrids to make them practical electrics. But is it really necessary? Because in this case the heat engine will hardly be used, and the French drive on average only 50 kilometers per day. Why not offer 100% electric cars directly? Especially since PHEVs will also be banned for sale from 2035 across Europe.
