Things seemed to be going well for Stellantis. And not for nothing, the Franco-Italian group, the result of the merger of PSA and FCA, announced a few days ago the desirehire at least 1,200 people in different positions. The firm, founded in 2021, is indeed showing very good results despite the difficult market after the Covid-19 crisis. However, as for many modern manufacturers, not everything is rosy for the company either. This one does suffer from a lot of logistical problems, including a shortage of semiconductors. But not only, unfortunately.

The factory is closed
Thus, several days have passed since the shutdown of the historic Stellantis plant located in Sochaux, which produces, in particular, the Peugeot 308 and 3008, as well as the Opel Grandland. And this time the problem is not in the microchip. Indeed, the problem is the lack of supply of automatic transmissions, as reported by our colleagues from France is blue. As a result, production is suspended until the situation improves. Fortunately, that shouldn’t last too long, as the factory is scheduled to close by April 14.
A logistical problem
However, this interruption should lead to numerous delays in production and deliveries. Thus, they are in addition to those already caused by semiconductor shortages the Covid-19 epidemic as well as containers. For its part, the CGT criticizes the management of Stellantis and claims that “you need the parts, but the group doesn’t want them either. keep in stock in place so as not to pay taxes on it. This temptation of profit is at the root of the problem that is paralyzing the factory today“.
