He is reinterpretation of the legendary Transporter T1 station wagon, released in 1950 in the Volkswagen range. Buzz ID is the new favorite of the electric ID line from Volkswagen. Released last year in a neo-retro style, we recognize the aesthetic family connection with the first T1. Its chunky silhouette and two-tone body (optional) is one of its attributes, as is its prominent radiator grille logo or that very high waist. At first glance, something imperceptible also reminds of its distant ancestor. His handsome face and the capital of his sympathies! It is also available there in the service version ID Buzz Cargo or in the passenger version (ID Buzz Pro). It currently only exists in one wheelbase length, but the program has a version extended by 25 centimeters.

A nod to the past

This ID Buzz XL will meet needs that are not yet possible in the current version: accommodates up to seven passengers. Because it’s a family-oriented model, but currently only offers five seats. This extended version will offer five-, six- or seven-seat configurations. The length that will develop both in terms of wheelbase only on the rear overhangs. On board the ID Buzz, the presentation is not cluttered, the cabin is spacious. The two-tone instrument panel includes a 10-inch touchscreen in the center, and the steering wheel is positioned high for convenience. At a technical level, it contains a one electric motor with a capacity of 204 horsepower. This is made possible by its 77 kWh battery the theoretical electric range is 416 kilometers in a mixed cycle.

More autonomy thanks to the sun

The figure that was visible not enough in the eyes of the German ABT coach ! He thought about the possibility of integrating a extending the radius of action thanks to solar panels. Photocells installed directly on the roof allow you to charge an electric battery with a peak power of 600 W. ABT is also preparing an extension of this installation to the side panels of the vehicle to allow up to 1000 W of peak power (1 kW).

With this solution, he guarantees that he can save up to 3000 kilometers of autonomy per year to the car. In terms of accuracy, ABT is a specialist manufacturer of Audi models, but which has diversified by ricocheting into other brands of the Volkswagen group: VW, SEAT, Skoda. It will offer this system in partnership with the manufacturer from 2024. There is no doubt that this will also be developed for the long version, which should therefore offer gains in charging power and electrical autonomy.
