We’ve already seen a few “stolen” photos of the Smart #3 that have surfaced on social media recently. We also know when it is presented: next April 18 at the Shanghai Motor Show. However, no official image has been released, at least until today.
In anticipation of this much-anticipated world premiere, Smart has released the first sketches of the Smart #3, which give a first look at its final styling.
The first SUV coupe Smart
As we already knew The second model of the Smart revival will be an SUV-coupe, with a sportier line than #1, which was made possible, in particular, by a more pronounced slope of the roof. This increasingly trendy silhouette will be part of a resurgence of the Smart range, with more modern aesthetic cues such as a slim LED strip that crosses the front and rear.
The rear pillars also have a different design and do not have a direct connection with the rest of the body thanks to the two-tone design, creating the impression of a “floating” roof.
Bigger and sportier
The press release does not mention the dimensions, but Dirk Adelmann, the head of the European division of Smart, took care of it a little in an interview with Automotive News Europe. So we know Smart #3 is coming “bigger, more spacious and sportier” than #1, p length, which should be approximately 4.40 meters, 13 cm longer than her younger sister. The wheelbase should increase by 4 cm and reach a total of 2.79 meters.
Starting with the #1, the Smart #3 will undoubtedly replace the Geely SEA modular platform, a platform developed for 100% electric models and used by other models of the Chinese manufacturer. It will be so from the side of the engine status quo : there will be a rear-wheel drive version with a power of 272 hp. and 343 Nm of torque, as well as the Brabus version with all-wheel drive, which develops 428 hp. and 543 Nm of torque.
As for batteries, you need to find a pack 66 kW/h which is powered by the Smart #1, but the streamlined silhouette of the Smart #3 should give it a bit more than the 440 km range advertised for the hardiest #1.
