Road Safety has just released the number of road traffic deaths for February 2023. The number doesn’t change, but there are a few things to note.
217 road deaths in February 2023
In France, 217 people died in a road accident in February 2023 according to road safety. This figure remains stable: 216 people died on the roads last year (+1 death).
At the same time, there is a slight decrease in the number of seriously injured (-3% compared to February 2022)with 973 people worried. The trend for the last three months (December-January-February) is also lower compared to the same months last year. In fact, the number of dead is -7% less, and the number of seriously injured is -5% less.

Change in the composition of the dead and wounded
Finally, the report mentions a change in the composition of the Road Safety Commission. Indeed, the number of motorist deaths decreased by 12%, and the number of pedestrian deaths increased by 23%. The number of deaths in the elderly also increased by 19%.
