It was expected as the messiah, here it is in the form of a concept car, very close to the production model that will arrive in 2025. new Volkswagen ID.2allthe long-awaited 100% electric city car to be shown on at a price of less than 25,000 euros.
The size of the Polo ID.2all makes it more livable than the Golf and ID.3. The first characteristics are also quite interesting, p Autonomy, declared by Volkswagen, is about 450 km.
A future electric Volkswagen Polo?
As you can see in the photos, the Volkswagen ID.2all no longer resembles the ID.Life concept car presented in 2021 at the Munich Motor Show. True, the latter heralded the brand’s upcoming city car in terms of styling, but given the feedback, Volkswagen thought it best to change the tone and go for something more consensual.
The Volkswagen ID.2all looks like a production car, except for a few details, and the model coming in 2025 should be very similar to it. Prototype measures The length is 4.0 metersvery similar to the Polo, and therefore will fit into the electric city car segment, a segment that will soon become very competitive with the introduction of the electric Renault 5 and possibly the long-awaited Tesla Model 2 in 2024.
Modernized cabin
The interior of the Volkswagen ID.3 was not unanimous, and the manufacturer wanted to correct the situation with the ID.2all. Therefore, we find a large 10.9-inch central touchscreen, as well as a 12.9-inch instrument screen instead of the small ID.3 tube.
As you can see in the first photos, the car seems to be planted new version of Volkswagen software. We also find a few physical controls, including a dial for radio volume and air conditioning controls.
In terms of living comfort, the Volkswagen ID.2all is strong, as the brand announces a spacious trunk 440 litersand even to 490 liters including a double bottom. This is 110 liters more than the Volkswagen Golf and 105 liters more than the ID.3. Both models are about twenty centimeters longer than the ID.2all.
Low price, maximum autonomy?
The Volkswagen ID.2all is based on the MEB platform, but on the “Entry” version with the presence of an electric motor connected to the front axle instead of the rear axle. This engine can develop up to 226 hp according to Volkswagen.
This will be powered by a battery whose capacity is not yet known, except that it should allow the car to do up to 450 km on one charge. This will undoubtedly be the 58kWh battery that was the mainstay of the ID.3’s early career and which should return with the German electric compact car’s recent facelift. Volkswagen also claims 20 minutes to go from 10 to 80% charge. Not bad when you know the car is going to be based on, surprise surprise, 400-volt architecture.
As stated above, The price of this model should start from around 25,000 euros, excluding the environmental bonus. The Volkswagen ID.2 will arrive about a year after the electric R5, and will also have an SUV version. It remains to be seen whether Tesla will play with the Model 2, but between the time the cars are unveiled and the time they hit our roads, Volkswagen and many other manufacturers will have complete freedom.
