Rarely has a car from Elon Musk’s brand attracted so much admiration and attention. THE cyber truck with You are here not yet available for order, but we saw it in the flesh quite recently, in a pre-production version.

The pickup that has been waiting since 2019

According to the big boss, by 2024 the Cybertruck, with its futuristic and controversial look, should revolutionize the pickup market. Its serial production should also start before the end of the year. But the car is long overdue, almost 4 years already. The latter was presented in 2019 in Los Angeles on the occasion of a big American show that could only be offered by such a crazy boss as Elon Musk. After the hype created by the announcement, attention was at its peak, but the excitement immediately subsided with the Covid-19 crisis. The context of the pandemic cooled many projects, and Tesla’s ambitions were undermined, as if reality had caught up with them.

But this time, everything seems to be going for the best. And it is in this context that Tesla presented on the occasion of its Investor Day a version very close to what we can see in the production model.

A pre-production version close to the final model

In a very recent video fromInvestor Day, the firm’s annual conference, so we were able to see an even more detailed preview of the upcoming pickup truck. Despite the more rounded front part of the production model, the angular design should be preserved. A peculiar exoskeleton made of stainless steel gives shape and should guarantee both strength and safety of the pickup truck.

In the video, the interior looks very spacious, the seats are arranged in two rows. The centerpiece, as with all Tesla models, is a large tablet-style touchscreen. THE steering wheel “Yok” open top well known from the Model S, is set by default. In the back of the Tesla Cybertruck, there is a large cargo compartment, well hidden behind high side walls. Practical and roomy, according to the manufacturer, this space can accommodate almost 1.7 tons of cargo.

All-terrain mode for Cybertruck?

More cyber truck the closer it gets to its likely debut, the more speculation. And especially for its off-road driving capabilities, which Elon Musk praised. Current rumors also say the air suspension will be adjustable for height, and it’s very noticeable. In this sense, Tesla has already announced that the electric car will be well equipped with a pneumatic chassis that can be raised by more than 10 cm to improve its off-road capabilities. It remains to be seen what the serial version has in store for us!

What is the price of the Cybertruck?

The Tesla pickup will be offered with three different engines, each with its own adjusted price. But Elon Musk recently revised his ambitious plans to offer his car 40,000 USD in the USA. However, we do not yet know at what price it will actually be offered. The basic model, equipped with one electric motor and rear-wheel drive, should have a range of about 400 kilometers.

The version with two engines should offer all-wheel drive, with more power, autonomy, but also payload. The most powerful model should provide up to 800 km of autonomy and have the function ” Crab walk“, allowing the pickup to move diagonally. On the other hand, it is unlikely that it will roll on our roads in the near future! At least not before the end of 2024…
