New private radar cars in Willerbaan
From the side of the city Willerbannear Lyon, private radar cars will soon be used, from April 3, 2023. They will be entrusted to a private service provider who will be responsible for crossing the streets of this city in the Lyon area with the aim of remove all license plates parked vehicles.
Goal: verbalize in an automated way drivers who did not pay for parking or accidentally exceeded the allowed parking time. Then it will be hard to avoid this real “HP sulfate”!
The practice is not new: indeed, after the decriminalization of paid parking, it is the municipalities that are responsible for the parking policy and the verbalization of offenders through the well-known FPS (Forfait Post-Parking), the amount of which can vary from ten euros to more than 75 euros, as for example in Paris.
Private radar cars in Willerban: 20 times more control!
The controversial practice of the capital also inspired the city of Villers-Bains: currently, the control of the correctness of payment for parking is provided by agents, with an average of 300 checks per day.
Thanks to the new system automated control of private parkingthe municipality expects to perform more than 6000 checks per daypotentially 20 times more checks than today!
The agents currently responsible for control will be transferred to a new “living environment team” that will be “mobilized in schools, control of nuisance parking and presence in parks and gardens, to combat damage and storage of bulky items”according to City Hall Security Assistant Willerban.
