In 2021, Nissan presented its electrification strategy with the ambitious Nissan Ambition 2030 plan. But, obviously, this one was not yet ambitious enough, since the Japanese manufacturer has just renewed its electrification strategy.

The Japanese firm intends to make its electric and hybrid vehicles increasingly affordable, working, on the one hand, to define manufacturing processes that allow reduce costs and increase volumesand on the other hand to development range of models able to meet the needs of different markets.

27 electrified models on the way

During the presentation of its first strategic plan, Nissan announced its intention to launch 23 electrified models, including 15 fully electric models, by 2030. Today, the brand revised its figures upwards, 27 electrified models on the market by the end of the decade, of which 19 will be fully electric.

The increase in deliveries will also allow the manufacturer to increase the electrification level of its model range to 55% by 2030, while it was previously expected to reach 50%. The fruits of these changes can be seen from 2026. In Europe, Nissan will have 98% of its range electrified by 2030, compared to 58% in Japan, 35% in China and 40% in the US.

Everyone has their own electric Nissan

To achieve its goals, which also apply to the Infiniti brand (which will not be sold in Europe from 2020), Nissan is also reviewing in detail the range of models that should be preferred. For example, to face the growing competition from Chinese manufacturers, the Japanese firm will introduce in China in 2024 an electric car specifically designed for this market.

On the other hand, in Europe, Nissan will try to strengthen its position by taking advantage of the increased cooperation with other brands of the Alliance, led by Renault, with which it recently concluded an agreement to jointly advance in the coming years. by strengthening synergies.

The upcoming 100% electric Nissan Micra will also be closely related to the upcoming 100% electric R5 and 4L. The little Japanese will also be produced by Renault at its French plant in Douai.
