As part of Ford’s commitment to making electric vehicles more accessible and affordable, the American automaker will introduce electric vehicles this year. LFP batteries (lithium-iron-phosphate) in Europe, starting with the assortment Ford Mustang Mach-E.

To that end, the blue oval company also announced that it will invest $3.5 billion (approximately €3.32 billion) to build its first LFP battery plant, called BlueOval Battery Park Michigan : This facility will open in the United States in 2026.

As part of Ford’s increased production of electric vehicles, the addition of LFP batteries to the range of all-electric models will allow Ford to produce more electric vehicles, while offering more options for new customers. Ford Mustang Mach-E: more affordable batteries

LFP battery technology will offered additionally current technology NCM batteries (Nickel-Cobalt-Manganese): This will allow Mustang Mach-E customers to choose the battery model that best suits their needs.

LFP batteries are very reliable and endure more frequent and faster charging, while using less rare and expensive materials. They are part of Ford’s goals to fulfill its commitments to sustainable development and human rights. This technology will also have the advantage of lowering the price of electric vehicles.
