There Peugeot 508 The second-generation car benefits from its first major facelift after 5 years on the market. Sochaux takes the opportunity to introduce its new styling on both the sedan and wagon versions of the SW. Not forgetting the PSE version! Thus, the sporty 360-horsepower 508 remains in the lion’s range with an updated design. Here are all the expected changes!

New redesigned front end with 3 claws

As expected, the main changes made in this restyling concern mainly the design. Up front, this facelifted 508 features a significantly updated grille. It takes the grid which is heavily inspired by the 408 model, lion cross-sedan. It stretches across the width of the front to the headlights, which have also been changed. LED optics are new, more advanced, and 3 new claws complement the sharp look of the new sedan. Also, as on all recent models from Peugeot, the new emblem is now located in the center of the radiator grille, with the 508 on the hood.

In the profile you can notice the presence new diamond rims 18 inches which contribute to the best aerodynamics of the car. At the rear, there is a new light sign with three claws. They occupy a more horizontal position than the previous generation. Finally, on the headband, the lion emblem disappears in favor of the “PEUGEOT” marking, which extends across the entire width.

As for dimensions, the new 508 has a long wheelbase of 2.79m for an overall length of 4.75m and 4.79m for the wagon. Width 1.86 m, mirrors folded. Note that seven colors will be offered for this new 508, including 3 exclusive ones: Okenite White, Eclipse Blue, Titanium Grey.

The passenger cabin is developing smoothly

In the interior of the new Peugeot 508, the Socho company continues its strategy of promotion to the elite market. The Peugeot i-Cockpit is still there with the small steering wheel and the meter in the high position. A fully customizable 12-inch driver-facing dashboard. The dashboard doesn’t change much, but there’s a 10-inch dash that’s always accompanied by piano keys. The phone has the new Peugeot i-Connect infotainment system, which is even more technologically advanced. The app includes connected navigation, voice recognition, wireless connectivity and over-the-air updates.

The most noticeable innovation is at the level of the center console, which offers an elegant design. The automatic transmission selector was reworked and the materials changed. New upholstery and refined shapes complete this interior.

According to Peugeot, it is an interior that offers the best experience between elegance, practicality and ergonomics. According to the volume of the trunk, the Sosho company declares 487 liters for sedan and 530 liters for a break Folding rear seat, obviously, allows to significantly increase this volume.

Technologies at the service of driving

For this updated version, Peugeot has equipped its 508 with the latest technology available to assist the driver. In particular, we find a adaptive cruise control with Stop and Go function, a automatic emergency braking with a warning about the risk of collision, a active lane crossing warning or on the side with trajectory correction, a driver attention warning detection of vigilance disorders, advanced recognition of traffic signsAND night vision systemthere monitoring of blind spotswith HD cameras for parking assistance, or even automatic high beam switching.

Engine changes

As for engines, the new Peugeot 508 still offers petrol, diesel and hybrid units. For the latter, we note the arrival of the 180 hp hybrid unit, which is available for the first time on this 508. It is always paired with the e-EAT8 box and linked to a 12.4 kWh battery (102 kW of power). Plug-in Hybrid unit with a capacity of 225 hp. remains in the directory.

Classic thermal versions are satisfied with PureTech 130 hp. for gasoline and BlueHdi 130 hp for the diesel, both linked to an 8-speed EAT8 automatic transmission.

Peugeot 508 PSE: the sports version will benefit from restyling

We’ve heard it all…but Peugeot confirms this version Peugeot Sport Engineered (PSE) will be there! On this 508 exclusive, the grille is specific, alternating glossy and textured black. The trademark three-claw Kryptonite badge sits alone on the end of the hood instead of the classic “508”.

For this sporty version, the Sochaux sedan is always equipped with motorization Hybrid with a capacity of 360 hp and four-wheel drive. Under the hood is a 200 hp PureTech engine combination. (147 kW) and an electric motor with a capacity of 81 kW in combination with an 8-speed automatic transmission e-EAT8. An electric motor with a capacity of 83 kW is added to the rear of all the cavalry.

Peugeot Sport engineers have also adapted the chassis with special settings to achieve a very good compromise between comfort and handling. The trim was lowered, the front tracks were widened by 24 mm and the rear by 12 mm. 380 mm front brake discs were placed up front, and the 508 PSE also features exclusive 20-inch rims with Michelin© Pilot Sport 4S tires. Finally, the variable damping system (Comfort/Hybrid/Sport) has been specially optimized.
