Mercedes at ICE St Moritz: an exceptional event
Besides the reference to the famous frozen lake, the word “ICE” means “International Competitions of Elegance” : an ephemeral event that can only be organized in winter when Lake St. Moritz turns into a track of ice about 50 centimeters thick. An oval strip is then created on the lake with a layer of snow and the site is used for several events for three months of the year.
“The ICE St Moritz” is a competition of elegance where vintage cars compete several categories : “Jetset on Ice”, “Vintage Road Racing”, “Stars on Wheels”, “Barchettas on the Lake” or even “Concept Cars”, each of which will have a winner.
The event is inspired by the history of the lake, which dates back to the winter of 1985, when a group of Scots and Englishmen used the frozen Lake St. Moritz as a track to drive their old Bentleys. It wasn’t until 2019 that viewers at the time envisioned ‘The ICE St Moritz’ with a test launch in 2019 before officially launching first edition in 2022after the Covid crisis.
