several days ago, netflix announced a new security policy, which aims to put an end to a common practice among its users: sharing account passwords, which is a real drawback of Netflix. Indeed, this new policy obliges the user of the device connected to Netflix connect to your home Wi-Fi network once a month to avoid being blocked by the platform. The goal is to detect fraudulent users and prevent them from logging into Netflix using someone else’s account.

Therefore, users of the Netflix application built into Teslas should also be subject to this new policy: if for some it is only a formality to be able to park their car near their home, it is not always easy for others. , who live in apartment buildings, for example.

Netflix and Tesla: The exception to the rule

In order to avoid punishing its real Tesla users, a Netflix spokesperson recently said this of this new security policy against account sharing will not apply to users of Tesla vehicles.

Indeed, this new security policy will not apply to the Netflix app built into the touchscreen of Tesla electric cars, so users will not have to connect their car to their home Wi-Fi network every 31 days.

This is good news for Tesla-driving Netflix usersbut this may not be enough to prevent frustrated Netflix customers: indeed, the American streaming platform has seen numerous subscription terminations since the announcement of this new anti-fraud policy.

Netflix: partnership with car manufacturers

Netflix has recently linked up partnership with another car manufacturer : American group General Motors. The purpose of this collaboration is to promote General Motors electric vehicles in films, series and Netflix shows to democratize the use of these zero-emission vehicles among motorists and Netflix viewers.

From this 2023, the first fruits of this partnership will see the light of day on the screen in the series created by Netflix: we will find the Chevrolet Bolt EUV in “Love is Blind”, the GMC Hummer EV pickup in “Strange Eye”, or even the Cadillac Lyriq SUV in “Unstable”.
