A few days ago we told you about a very strange story that rocked the Stellantis plant in Sochaux, where, in particular, the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 are produced. Indeed, on the night of Saturday to Sunday last year, a total of 52 cars were damaged by fire after a mysterious intrusion. according to the plant’s management.
Security then discovered the break-in around 4:30 a.m. in the vehicle storage area. The attackers set several dozen cars on fire.
The suspect was detained and prosecuted
Today we know a little more about this case. Indeed, a judicial investigation was opened immediately after the fact, and the temporary worker was arrested on Monday. At the end of the day, he was presented to an investigating judge, Montbéliard prosecutor Ariane Combarel told AFP.
The investigation was quick enough to say the least, at least to apprehend the first suspect, since the latter showed his card to enter the site. Nonetheless, “he does not recognize all the facts as they are”– said the prosecutor.
At the moment, the investigation is still ongoing, in particular, whether he intervened himself, as the first elements of the investigation suggest, even if there is no certainty on this issue. Suspect too “Presented as an exemplary worker”, – said the prosecutor. In this connection, a psychiatric examination may be required.
The Stellantis factory in Sochaux, a place that is always full
It should be noted that the factory in Sosho now produces approx 1200 cars per day. This figure is driven by the success, in particular, of the Peugeot 3008, which does not seem to be losing strength since 2016, the year it appeared on the market.
The new Peugeot 3008 will also be launched this year, in the second half of 2023, in particular with an unprecedented 100% electric version, which should run up to 700 km.
