
It’s the second model from automaker Angelelli Automobili, an Italian-American startup based in Rome and Austin, Texas. Here is the D2 Granturismo Superperformante, model developed thanks to numerous patented technologies.
The D2, which is currently homologated only for the track, is aimed at rivals such as certain Ferraris, Lamborghinis and other Porsches in terms of performance, but not only.
Angelelli D2 Granturismo: an engineering job?
With a length of 4.60 meters, a width of 1.96 meters and a height of 1.22 meters, the D2 is characterized by typical Italian GT proportions. The long hood, muscular sides and rear end are reminiscent of the designs of the Ferrari 812 Superfast and Maserati Gran Turismo, while offering a fairly modern interpretation. According to the technical passport published by the manufacturer, the entire design of the car is new.
The frame is made has a unique structure without joints, welds or screws and is 3D printed using an alloy of titanium and aluminum. Engineered using software called “Smart Design,” Angelelli says the chassis is stiffer where the loads are and lighter where the loads are less. The car weighs only 1,350 kg, and its “Sport” version, equipped with a hybrid power plant, weighs even 1,300 kg.
Aerodynamics are neat, with 20 electronically controlled active surfaces for acceleration, speed and braking that vary downforce from 600kg to 1,650kg. In addition, there are eight airflow switches that can act as air brakes, reducing the stress on the braking system.
Angelelli D2 Granturismo: up to 850 hp
The cabin is as minimalist as it is luxurious, with fully customizable leather and cloth upholstery. The dashboard consists of a single touch screen that can be adjusted by the driver, while piloting on the track is assisted by a special headset that projects augmented reality information onto the visor.
As for powertrains, the D2 is available in two configurations: a non-electrified version, rear-wheel drive and a 5.7-liter twin-turbo V8. 600 hpas well as the “Sport” hybrid configuration, consisting of the same V8, but supplemented with a 280 hp electric motor. for total power 850 hpeverything was sent to four-wheel drive.

Angelelli D2 Granturismo: Hydrogen and electric versions coming soon?
Angelelli says the range could soon expand with the introduction of a hydrogen variant and a 100% electric version with all-wheel drive and around 1,087bhp.
The car was tested for more than 150,000 km practically on test tracks specially built for the project, as well as on several historic and famous tracks.
The company’s goal is to soon release the first copies for customers. As for the price, you will have to pay 450,000 euros for D2 with a capacity of 600 hp 580,000 euros for the hybrid version.
