Infrastructure of hydrogen is on the rise. Last year, the number of H2 service stations opened in Europe has never been higher. With almost 45 new stationsnetwork now includes 254 on the Old Continent. Including only about forty are in France. There are more than 800 of them in the world.

Hydrogen is progressing slowly but surely

Among the 40 stations opened in France, only about thirty will be public at the moment. Numbers that make you smile by comparison 11,200 service stations opened in France. Therefore, we are still far away. But in the end, these numbers remain quite logical, if you compare the number of cars on sale that run on this energy. So there’s still a lot to come.

And in the rest of the world?

However, growth is currently accelerating 315 new sites planned worldwide. And today you can almost get stock 37 countries of the world. On the Asian continent, for example, there are almost 455 hydrogen service stations, for 89 stations in North America. The site even allows you to see different hydrogen stations around the world: h2stations.org.

Note that the first state service station offers hydrogen opened in 2002!

Together, the companies want to create a network of around 250 hydrogen filling stations in Germany, Austria and Denmark by 2026. Interests along the hydrogen value chain must be aligned and a sustainable ecosystem created. The planned locations are both existing Jet service stations and completely new stations.

What vehicles are currently on sale?

At the moment, there are very few models with hydrogen engines in the catalog in France. In the upper part we find Toyota Miraiavailable from 72,250 euros. Behind is an SUV Hyundai Nexo also available for sale, price including VAT fixed from 80,500 euros. This month, BMW also unveils the Bavarian firm’s first steps in this technology with its hydrogen iX5.

Finally, there will also be several other models. At the last Paris Motor Show in October last year, several brands distinguished themselves with this technology. This is especially true of Hopium with its HUV NamX or Opium with Machina. Cars are scheduled for 2024 and 2025!
