Second-hand Dacia: is it really a good business? News from Auto Plus in your smartphone News from Auto Plus in your mailbox

With Dacia, the Renault group has achieved its goal: transforming the historic Romanian manufacturer into the king of low-cost, with versatile models offered at an unbeatable price… We had to dare.

Appearing among the favorite models of French buyers today, the Dacia is found in large numbers on the second-hand market, ahead of many other older models or even sold out. But are these used Dacias really a bargain?

Used Dacia: Sandero, the queen of sales

Released in 2008 in our region, Dacia Sandero is undoubtedly the favorite Dacia of the French. It has since fallen into disrepair after three generations and is now high-end, but still offers unbeatable value.

It’s a good deal on the second hand market, for example the 2011 Sandero 1 sells for around €4,000, even if their price tends to go up as they have the Crit’air 1 sticker. Stepway version, well equipped, good choice in combination with a 0.9 TCe engine with a capacity of 90 horsepower. Diesel versions are starting to be avoided, so they are more affordable. The 75bhp 1.5 dCi is a solid option, even if this version arrived in 2011, it can only claim the Crit’air 2 sticker.

Used family cottages

Dacia Logan is the first brand to be launched in our region and is available as a hatchback sedan and station wagon. Even if they look grown up, they remain strong and friendly. You can find some for around €1,500 for a 2006 1.6 MPI and that’s a bargain against the competition. Go for the 90bhp 1.5 dCi version if you’re aiming for a wagon, and look out for air conditioning, which is offered as an option on some models.

Appearing a little later, in 2012, Dacia Dokker was late to our country. However, it remains interesting compared to the Citroën Berlingo, which is 500-1000 euros more expensive than the equivalent model: go for the 1.5 dCi 90 version, sober and versatile.

For families, Dacia Lodgy is a real transporter, which, despite its unattractive appearance, offers an 870-liter trunk. However, competition is fierce and you can, for example, find a used Grand Scénic 3 for several hundred euros cheaper.

Dacia Duster: the inexpensive SUV remains unsurpassed

For more than ten years, Dacia Duster has been the only one in the segment of inexpensive SUVs that has enjoyed great success in our regions. As a result, gasoline Dusters are rarely found on the second-hand market. You’ll find some for less than €7,000 with the 1.6 16V, which proves to be reliable but quite voracious. Instead, opt for the bioethanol or LPG version, which is reliable and demonstrates pleasant sobriety despite its timid characteristics.

The 110bhp 1.5 dCi diesel is a good choice, but aim for the facelifted model (from late 2013) for more reliability and peace of mind. In the Laureate version, it is equipped with GPS, air conditioning, Bluetooth and fog lights. Among competitors, it is difficult to find an equivalent model for less than 8,000 euros: Duster remains unsurpassed!
