The year 2023 will be rich in novelties on the subject of radar. A willing state to increase its income from fines to one billion euros, really activates the installation throughout the territory. 500 new decoy towers, 100 two-way radars, 200 city radars, 400 radar cars. Modern software, for example Waze or Coyote it is very useful to know their location. But if it fails, know the meaning of different radar signs it’s even easier not to be cheated and save money. Today we distinguish 5 types of speed cameras, and the same number of panels pay attention on the road:
Signboard with speed limit indication (photo 1)
This is a format that can be found almost everywhere, except on roads with a 90 km/h limit. A radar icon topped with a speed sign (30 km/h, 50 km/h, etc.) is always placed several hundred meters to the stationary radar. This, unsurprisingly, indicates the maximum speed allowed by the radar. On departmental roads, the speed of which is limited to 90 km/h, there is never a mention of speed.
Panel without mentions
- On a sealed mast (stationary radar, photo 2): this is a general bar to indicate an imminent speed camera crossing. Its speed is not specified, as it may vary between panel locations and camera locations.
- On the installed mast (mobile radar, photo 3): this sign indicates the inevitable presence of a mobile speed camerafor example, on a construction site, in an isolated place or on the side of the road.
Small format panel (50X50 cm, photo 4)
This is reported by a fixed radar in urban areas. With the spread of this type of radar (which will eventually replace turrets), it is necessary to pay increased attention to it. Their small size and elevated location also make it easy to pass by without even noticing.
Distance panel (photo 5)
These are the most treacherous signs, because they warn the presence of a camera on the track is inaccurate. The distance indicator located below the icon warns of the area where the radars are located, and where the radar cars drive. Traitors, because this distance can be up to 150 kilometers, without an exact indication of the location of the radar. It is found every 5-10 kilometers, even if sometimes there is no radar between these distances…
Old formats (photo 6)
These are those whose icon is framed above and below the inscriptions “for your safety frequent radar checks” or “for your safety automatic checks”. They report the presence of a stationary radar several hundred meters away.
