It’s been four years since the Peugeot 208 was updated. The second generation was officially presented at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, just a few steps away from its lifelong rival, the Renault Clio. She also offered a completely new version during the Swiss show, but the lioness will dominate in the end. And for good reason, it has managed to stay at the top of sales for almost four years and does not seem to have suffered from the passage of time. Only in 2023 there are actually no fewer of them 88,812 units which were sold against only 64,012 from the competitor. But now, however, it’s time for a restyling for the star of the French market.

A more modern design
The Peugeot 208 was expected to mark a turning point in the brand’s stylistic direction when it hit the market. And it’s not for nothing that the city car will have a front end similar to other models in the range, including new 308 and 408. We will find a light signature in the form of fangs, which will obviously be slightly redesigned. The grille will also benefit from a new design inspired by the compact, while the shield will also be slightly revised. The rear should evolve more smoothly, perhaps with a new light signature. The driving position will likely remain the same, perhaps simply due to a software update.
Launch in 2023
While Peugeot does not provide details about the developments that will affect the engine line, you can already count on an increase in autonomy. e-208. If it currently maxes out at 400 kilometers, a small upgrade could increase that value without touching Battery 51 kWh the capacity of which increased last September. Perhaps a new, slightly more efficient version will extend the range as well. But the chances of a PSE variant seem pretty low… We should know more in the next few months, while the city car will be facelifted within the year.
