Jeep Wrangler: What is the problem that requires a recall? News from Auto Plus in your smartphone News from Auto Plus in your mailbox

Don’t know what a car recall campaign is? It is quite simply a more or less extensive operation, which consists of a manufacturer contacting its customers because of a technical problem with one of its cars. In this case, a letter is sent to interested owners asking them to take their car to a garage for repairs to be carried out at the brand’s expense. In recent months, many campaigns have been launched, on Ferrari, Kia, Hyundai or even Ford and Peugeot, among others. Today it’s time to talk about another brand for a similar reason.

Battery problem

This time it’s a Jeep Wrangler, but only in a plug-in hybrid version. Indeed, the problem is directly related to the traction battery, or rather to the fuse, which has a slight failure. Indeed, on some copies it may be poorly fixed. Vibrating the vehicle can cause it to heat up, causing a power drop when the car is in motion. This can quickly become dangerous, especially when overtaking or in the fast lane. Fortunately, the problem was discovered by the manufacturer.

Especially in the United States

In total, the problem will affect 13,722 units in the United States produced between January 13 and May 18, 2022. In France, only a few dozen units are victims of this problem, so they need to be repaired in a workshop. Supported by Jeep, this consists of better fixing the fuse or even replacing the traction battery, for example, if it has suffered from overheating.
