As you know, 2022 will not be a good year for new car sales. Indeed, they fell by 7.83% in France over the last twelve months, from January to December. A difficult situation, when 2021 was already not a glorious year. A significant decline, which then follows a health crisis andOutbreak of COVID-19, as factories were idle and dealerships were forced to close. Not to mention the numerous difficulties faced by the automotive industry, in particular due to the shortage of semiconductors. In short, 2022 won’t be a gift for anyone, even if all the manufacturers are not placed in the same boat.

What are the biggest downfalls?

Indeed, if some brands still managed to get out of the game, such as Alpine or Dacia, others suffered a big drop. The worst is for Ssangyong, which sold just 18 cars in France last year, with registrations down 81.25% compared to 2021. The company is followed by Subaru with 28 sales (– 58.20%). Seat is doing slightly better, starting with 13,684 registrations, but still showing a 48.72% drop. Finally, this Jeep which takes the 4th position with a sharp drop of 47.08% and only 5,727 copies sold.

Some successes

On the other hand, other brands have performed better over the past year. This is especially trueAlpine, which sold 32% more than in 2021 with 2,138 cars sold. Maserati also recorded good figures: sales increased by 37.2%, or 214 registered cars. But the prize went to Alfa Romeo, which climbed 99.4% to sell 3,097 cars in the territory since January. A turn that we undoubtedly owe to the new Tonale compact SUVwhich begins to attract customers.
