The story about Dacia Duster dates back to 2009, when the Romanian manufacturer Renault Group presented the Duster concept car, a futuristic recreational vehicle, at the Geneva Motor Show. The H79 project aimed to create a car that does not exist in any market, capable of driving on the roads of the world, strong, reliable and offered unbeatable price.
It was in the spring of 2010 that the first generation of Dacia Duster was released in versions with traction and all-wheel drive. It has passed more than 2 million copies in the world in a 7-year career under the Renault or Dacia brand depending on the market, before being replaced by the second generation in 2018.
Dacia Duster: a successful model
The second generation preserves the DNA of Duster, improving it. She takes a a new and more assertive styledesigned by Laurens van den Acker’s stylist teams: more muscular lines, an inflated waistline, as well as a powerful radiator grille, which will house the brand’s new logo in summer 2022.
Dacia Duster was awarded more than 40 awards since launch: Car of the Year in Romania, Best SUV in Great Britain or even Best Family Car in Germany and Belgium, symbolizing its international success. The Romanian company has no intention of stopping there and is already working on it future generation of its symbolic 4×4: it is codenamed “P1310”.

Dacia Duster 3: presentation in April 2024
Dacia is currently expanding its range with the arrival of the new Jogger, which will replace the Lodgy, as well as the upcoming Bigster, which will offer up to 7 seats on board. This large SUV, the prototype of which is the concept car of the same name, should divide it angular and muscular lines with the future generation of Duster.
If you can’t wait to discover Dacia’s new SUV, designed by the team of David Duran, the Romanian brand’s new style director, you’ll still have to wait a bit. Really, Dacia Duster 3 will be presented in April 2024before being on the market at the end of 2024.
Dacia Duster 3: hybrid engines
Like the Bigster, the Duster 3 will be based on Platform CMF-B which is equipped with Sandero, extended to provide more space on board. It should retain the 130 and 150bhp 1.3-litre TCe petrol engines, as well as the 100bhp 1.0-litre Eco-G LPG version.
The dCi diesel will no longer be part of it, but new hybrid engines will see the light of day on Dacia’s upcoming SUV: we should find the 1.6-liter E-Tech unit already featured on models in the Renault range.
