The Japanese manufacturer has just announced the launch of its production Toyota 5 hybrid enginethousand generationwhich will be found, in particular, under the hood of the new Toyota Corolla, as well as on future models of the brand, including the latest generation Prius.

Toyota hybrid: more than 77 million euros of investment

This new Toyota hybrid engine will reduce pollutant emissions and will be assembled in Toyota factories in Poland and Great Britainbefore installation on a new Corolla produced in Great Britain and Turkey.

To prepare for the start of production of its hybrid transmissions and engines 5thousand generation, Toyota has a total of 77.5 million euros were invested to modernize seven production lines in Poland (€77 million) and Great Britain (€541,000).

Toyota hybrid: technology concentrate

In Poland, Toyota produces hybrid transmissions containing MG1 and MG2 engines, as well as the main electrical components of these transmissions. MG1 is an auxiliary motor or generator that acts as a starter motor for the gasoline engine, generating electricity for the MG2 motor and charging the battery. MG2 is the main electric motor that drives the wheels using current from MG1 and the battery.

These electric products are then combined with a new British-made 1.8-litre petrol engine to form Toyota 5 hybrid power plantthousand generation. This hybrid engine can recover some of the kinetic energy during braking and deceleration, reducing fuel consumption.

Toyota hybrid: reduction of CO2 emissions

With lighter, more compact and more powerful electric motors, this latest generation of Toyota hybrid technology offers greater performance while reducing CO2 emissions. The total power of this hybrid engine is 140 horsepowerwhich allows to perform Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.2 secondswhich is 1.7 seconds better than the previous generation.

This new hybrid engine will replace the 4 enginethousand generation, also produced in Poland and Great Britain, since 2018 and 2016, respectively. Toyota wants to accelerate its investment in hybrid technology, which will allow it to reach a 66% share of electrified car sales in Europe, up from 30% four years ago.
