WARNING! Since 2015 and the appearance of Crit’Air vignettes, traffic restrictions apply to certain vehicles in large cities. Shall we summarize together? 🚙 #MyMoreResponsibleProject

From March 1, the city of Toulouse became a EPZ, like many other municipalities such as Paris, Rouen and Strasbourg. A measure aimed at reducing the number of cars that are considered too old and therefore polluting. They are then discriminated against because of their Crit’air sticker, as those with a rating of 4 or higher will no longer be able to move around the city from January 1st of the following year. So far, this measure applies only to minibuses and heavy weight. Nevertheless, a concession will be introduced for some motorists, in particular small drivers who rarely use their old cars.

A raise that doesn’t go through
Thanks to this measure, the owner of the “polluting” car will be able to drive the car up to 52 days a year in ZFE, provided that the request is made upstream. The way is better to pass the pill, which still angered the motorist. And it was not for nothing that after asking the city hall if there was no alternative to the ZFE, the latter, at the age of 62, decided to take out a loan to buy a new and therefore less polluting car to replace the 2004 diesel. this, of course, was before the announcement of the rollback. So his expensive purchase is wasted because he uses his car very little. And this event is difficult to pass.

A letter to the town hall
Then the disgruntled driver decided to take up the pen and write a letter to the city hall of Toulouse to demand compensation. The latter then explains to La Dépêche du Midi that “ Last April I wrote to Toulouse City Hall to find out if there were any alternatives. I explained to them that I don’t have much money. I was told that this is a European obligation […] I will be contacting a lawyer to get a refund. It is not normal that under the pressure of the people we retreat 15 days earlier! And I’m sure there will be news deduction in the following years“. It remains to be seen how this story will end…
