The connected generation
If Honda just introduced it new bike, the brand is already working on the development of the next generation. And it has to radically change from what we already know. Indeed, it must turn to electrification to adapt to increasingly stringent environmental standards. And you shouldn’t settle for easy hybridization, according to Hideki Kakinum, Honda’s chief engineer. He claims that “The pursuit of carbon neutrality and emissions regulation have very strict limits. The next Type R may have an internal combustion engine, but it is highly unlikely“.
100% electric?
Although a hybrid version may be considered, a the next generation is 100% electric would actually be more likely. Especially since it should not appear before 2027, when thermal cars will be banned from sale in 2035. But it’s hard to know more at this point, as the brand doesn’t want to reveal too much about this next generation yet, which might upset the purists… Stay tuned!
