Within the next few years, all manufacturers will have to go 100% electric. Indeed, from 2035, the European Union will ban the sale of new thermal cars. The measure will affect all brands except those that sell less than 1,000 vehicles per year. The goal is a 100% reduction in CO2 emissions associated with the automotive industry in Europe. Therefore, no brand will avoid it, and in particular Volkswagen, which is already actively working on its electrification. The German company already offers several fashionable models with its own ID.3, ID.4, ID.5 and ID. Buzzbut this will continue for the next few years.

Two iconic models

Indeed, the manufacturer plans, in particular, to launch the ID.3 SUV version, which should see the light of day next year. Then it will be based on SEM+ platform, a revised version of the MEB we already know well. But that’s obviously not all. Indeed, it is quite possible that two models will join the fashionable range. Then it would just be Golf and Tiguan. Indeed, during the conference, the boss of the brand, Oliver Blume, said that it would be wrong to remove two names from the range, both relevant and mythical. A kind of half-word confirmation that these two vehicles will become 100% electric in future.

.

Up to 700 kilometers?

If these rumors are true, the Volkswagen Golf and Tiguan will also become zero-emissions and be based on the MEB+ platform. It can then transport batteries to achieve a range of up to 700 kilometers while receiving a charging power of up to 200 kW. But for now, we don’t know enough about these new versions, which shouldn’t see the light of day for many more years. First you will have to wait launching the updated ID.3 before knowing more.
