China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) is an official organization whose mission is to inspect every vehicle in China before it goes into production and report the results on its website.
That’s how many photos of future models, not yet published, manage to leak out in this way long before their official presentation. This is the case again Nio ES8of the new version of the large Chinese electric SUV, which was supposed to be presented during the “Nio Day” presentation scheduled for December 24, 2022, and where we should also discover a second new model, the Nio ET5 Break.
Nio ES8: more refined style
Nio ES8 is not a new model from the Chinese manufacturer: it was launched in 2018 and is based on the previous generation NT1.0 platform. The new Nio ES8, which should be unveiled in a few days, is based on the whole a new platform called NT2.0which equips the latest Nio ET7, ES7 and ET5.
The model features a more futuristic style, quite close to the more compact Nio ES7, with slightly increased dimensions: the new ES8 is 5.1 meters long, 1.99 meters wide and 1.75 meters high, all with a 3.07 wheelbase meter The exterior styling is refined and can be identified, in particular, by the door handles, as well as by the particularly narrowed headlights. At the back, two black optics are joined together to visually expand the integrity and create a more sporty look.

Nio ES8: autonomous driving system
But on this new Nio ES8, we pay particular attention to the numerous sensors that we find, in particular, on the top of the windshield, at the back and on the front fenders. They betray the presence of a autonomous driving systemchristened Nio Pilot.
The interior is still a mystery, but it should also have the same spirit as the ES7. We should find up to 6 seats on board, while the previous ES8 had 7 seats. Technology will also be ubiquitous on board, with a large central touchscreen as well as a screen in front of the driver like a dashboard.

Under the hood, the new Nio ES8 is expected to have a Electric motor with a capacity of 653 horsepower (480 kW), combining a 245 hp (180 kW) front engine with a 408 hp (300 kW) rear engine. The battery will be offered with several capacities: 75 or 100 kWh.
The new Nio ES8 will be officially presented on December 24, 2022before entering the market during the first semester of 2023.
