We no longer represent Dacia Duster. Compact SUV, released in 2010, he is largely responsible for the success of the Dacia brand in France. Duster is also a a rational model that appeals to the most essential only one comfortable and pleasant car to drive. Dacias of 15 years ago remained only a bad memory! with 5 seats, a large trunk and a level of equipment that you don’t need to be ashamed ofoffered by Duster one of the best in terms of price/quality ratio on the segment. But, like any car, it may face problems with the reliability or quality of some of its components. We calculate after 100,000 kilometers.

Mechanical: some fragile parts

The first Duster had a lot more failures (injectors and turbo on the DCi, fuel pump) than this one the second version.

  • in diesel, this time nothing but the diesel pump, which can be noisy in the 1.5 DCi. Not enough to create a flop, though.
  • in essence 1.2 TCe, which was installed on the first versions of Duster, should be avoided! Starting at 50,000 kilometers, it is exposed to very high oil consumption, which can lead to engine failure. On the other hand, nothing needs to be reported for other blocks.
  • About manual transmission, some 1.3 TCe owners have heard hissing noises coming from the transmission. So far, no malfunction has been recorded, but if the problem persists, it must be replaced before 60,000 kilometers.

Electronics: (almost) nothing to report

No recurring anomaly was reported for comfort and safety equipment. Only combination of devices may falsely display an Adblue system error. This may mean “Fill Adblue” even if the level is correct or the tank has just been filled. A minor minor bug that can be fixed with a free system reset.

Materials: more problematic

Interior duster is very durable. Since this is an entry-level model, the dead end is made of high-quality, pleasant-to-the-touch materials. Everything is made of hard plastic, from the door panel to the door trim. Some of these plastics can weaken over time, such as around the steering wheel, where they can crumble.

Re body work, priority tasks for the economy have also been done here. A thin layer of paint can peel off over time, and more problematically, some parts can corrode. This especially applies to the side walls of the trunk and the exhaust line.

Thus, Dacia Duster 2 presents few mechanical problems and is not prone to major electronic errors. Corrosion should be taken very seriously, and should be monitored regularly! With this observation in mind, it would be advisable to sell it after 100,000 kilometers to be sure that these small worries do not turn into real problems.
