At our historic site alone, we are investing around β¬460 million by early 2025 to prepare the plant for the MEB platform. The expansion of ID.3 production is the first important step towards the conversion of our main factory to electric mobility. Restyled Volkswagen ID.3: 2023 release
These investments are mainly for training production of the new updated Volkswagen ID.3. Production of the new all-electric compact sedan will begin on assembly lines in Wolfsburg from 2023in addition to current production at the Zwickau plant.
From 2024, the model will be fully produced in Wolfsburg, and the production ramp-up will be completed by the end of 2025. To prepare for the production of this new ID.3, Volkswagen is currently preparing the necessary training measures for the workforce. .

Volkswagen Wolfsburg: 100% electric SUV of the future
After the launch of the upcoming facelifted ID.3, another “massive” 100% electric model will be produced at the Wolfsburg plant: it will new electric SUV on the basis of the MEB+ platform, which will complement the offer of ID.4 and ID.5, which will contribute to increasing the level of utilization of the plant’s production capacities.
MEB’s modular platform, designed for the Group’s 100% electric vehicles grouped under the Volkswagen ID family, will soon evolve to become SEM+and in particular will increase productivity.
