The Euro 7 standard was represented by the European Commission, and should enters into force on July 1, 2025 for passenger vehicles and July 1, 2027 for heavyweights. She doesn’t anymore there is no longer a difference between petrol and dieselfor the first time since 1993. In fact, the two engines should now match the same requirements, which become tougher for diesel. Another novelty: the Commission is now dealing with the fight against particles that concern not only the engine. This includes monitoring particulate matter associated with brakes and tires starting with the microplastics they discard. The event, aimed in particular at electric carswhich do not reject particles emitted by the engine.

New measurements that no longer only consider engine-related parts

This new event is part of the desire of the European Union to ban internal combustion engines by 2035. To better support this transition, it now takes EVs into account. Refers to battery life in particular, who would replaced too often now. It’s an environmental disaster when you know what difficulties their recycling creates. So there would be a question of ensuring that they are not replaced too early in the vehicle’s life cycle. This news is coming further restrain manufacturers in their transition to fully electric. In any case, they did not stay long annoy BMW. The group spoke to our colleagues at Les Echos in the voice of their CFO, who is Franco-German Mykola Petro.

Difficult restrictions for builders

There will be some emission restrictions too restrictive in certain situations, even untenable. “The draft Euro7 standard provides for a reduction in emissions in very rare situations, for example, when a car has to climb a mountain pass while towing a caravan at full speed. To reach the level required in such a situation, car manufacturers will have to make large investments, and this will inevitably affect car prices.” What is the situation will further weaken the position of new cars in France, the prices of which continue to rise. Despite electricity, semiconductors, cable shortages, skyrocketing fuel prices, and now these EU measures, tough times have come for the automotive industry.
