Since the beginning of the year in the price at the gas station experienced significant growth. The situation for motorists remains very tense, despite the help offered by the government and support from Total. As if that wasn’t enough, the drivers also had to deal with shortage of fuel at the stations!
After a month of trouble, the effect has almost completely disappeared. Prices are still very high regardless 30 cents off always offered by the government.
Why does the price vary from station to station?
The first criterion to take into account is the margin. Thus, each station owner is free to choose its quantity according to his expenses and the price at which he buys his precious liquid. Yes, some service stations are located in places where the rent is very high, which explains the high price of fuel.
But this is not the only explanation. Indeed, the margin is only about 1-2% of the fuel price. Another reason for the discrepancy in gas station prices is the frequency of fuel orders. A station that is very busy will order fuel more often and as a result the price will change according to the price of the refinery where it is supplied. The prices set by the latter change very regularly according to the price of oil. A less frequented station will have difficulty emptying its tanks and updating the prices displayed on the totems.
If we look at the different prices charged by stations, BP brands are very often at the top of the basket. But why are they so expensive?

Additionally, BP stations are also known for their vantage point experience fuel technology. Their gas stations offer fuel that should limit dirt in the engine. To combat pollution, BP offers petrol (SP95 and 98) and diesel fuel with ‘ACTIVE’ technology. According to them, this new fuel fights dirt intelligently: ACTIVE molecules stick to the dirt present in the engine and then are removed during the combustion process. These molecules will then form a protective layer on the cleaned metal parts.
Be careful, it’s actually very hard to test. So it’s hard to justify such a price difference when you know that some supermarkets offer much more competitive prices! Here one of our subjects on the quality of fuel used in supermarkets.
