After the Dacia Duster, which has established itself as the main SUV of the Romanian brand, the model range should be completed by 2025 with the appearance of Dacia Bigstera larger model, the prototype of which was the concept of the same name last year.

According to rumours, the launch of the Bigster could even take place earlier than 2025, as the Romanian firm of the Renault group wants to accelerate its market offensive and complete its line of hybrid and electrified engines. That’s when the future Bigster series could open in Dacia as a whole new plug-in hybrid engine.

Dacia Bigster: new plug-in hybrid engine

By early 2023, the Dacia Jogger will offer a 140 hp 1.6-liter hybrid engine borrowed from Renault E-Tech hybrids such as the Clio, Captur and Arkana. It combines Nissan’s HR16 petrol engine with two electric motors and a 1.2kWh battery.

This engine would later be replaced by a 1.8-liter plug-in hybrid, using the HR18 gasoline engine, the power and working volume of which will be increased. According to the latest rumours, this new battery hybrid engine may power the next generation Duster, Jogger and the upcoming Bigster.

Dacia Bigster: price around 30,000 euros

While waiting to learn more about the upcoming Romanian SUV, Dacia boss Denis Le Vot has already revealed some signs of its price, which already promises to be aggressive: indeed, it may be launched on the market. about 30,000 euros.

A price that would put the Bigster among Dacia’s most expensive models, but which is particularly attractive among other competitors in the segment, which average around €40,000. Therefore, the Bigster will be presented at a price equivalent to the model in the lower category.

Dacia: 10 million units produced

Dacia has just passed a symbolic milestone 10 million cars were produced : the Urban Gray Dacia Duster Extreme model, released in the spring of 2022 from the assembly line of the Mioveni plant, Romania.

Although the history of Dacia began in 1968, the Romanian brand developed in the 2000s with the takeover by the Renault group and the appearance of successful models such as Logan, Sandero, Duster and other Lodgy. The company continues its development and electrification of its range, creating diverse and affordable models.
