The Korean manufacturer offers its customers by ordering first Kia EV6the ability to install a software update on their 100% electric crossover toaccelerate cooling in cold weather. Quite a significant little allowance for the upcoming winter season.
It renewal allows for a feature available as standard on the new Kia EV6, EV6 GT and Niro EV from this year: battery preconditioning system. This avoids the problem of reduced charging speed in cold weather, which affects battery electric vehicles.
Kia EV6: ultra-fast charging
Indeed, in optimal operating conditions, Kia EV6 is necessary only 18 minutes charges from 10 to 80%, thanks to its 800V architecture and technology super fast charging which equips vehicles based on the modular E-GMP platform designed for the Korean group’s 100% electric vehicles.
On the other hand, when the temperature drops to, for example, five degrees, it will take 35 minutes to get the same level of battery charge on the EV6, which does not have battery preconditioning. This function allows you to charge the battery optimal working temperatureand with cut charging time in half.
Between the Kia EV6 and the Ferrari F355, which car would you bet on in terms of pure speed over time? One thing can be said that the result is quite dense. https://t.co/QnXwF2aUVj

Kia EV6: pre-conditioning function
In addition to the preconditioning function, a GPS navigation system is also used: in fact, when the driver programs a direct current (DC) fast charging station as a destination, the battery temperature is lower than 21 degrees and the charge level is greater than or equal to 24%, the preconditioning function automatically activates battery pre-heating.
This function is then automatically turned off when the battery reaches its optimal operating temperature. Once the software update is complete, EV6 customers will be able to take advantage of the best charging capacity of an electric crossover during the winter season.
Kia EV6: The upgrade will be done at the dealership
Kia EV6 owners wishing to add this new battery pre-conditioning feature to their vehicle should contact their local Kia dealer to tryst.
This is a software update available for free at participating Kia dealerships: Specialist technicians will update the vehicle’s software and this operation is ongoing about 2 hours.
