Microcars are also in the spotlight at the Paris Motor Show 2022. These cars, which are increasingly appreciated by motorists, and especially city dwellers, are appearing on the market. If license-free cars still make up the majority of this market, other models intend to establish themselves well in this promising sector. Main model in France, Citroën AMI. But the competition is hoping to come and compete with this little microcar.

Mobilize, the new Twizy is here

You probably remember the Renault Twizy. Well, here’s its replacement, the Mobilize Duo from French manufacturer Mobilize, which is none other than the electric vehicle division of the Renault group. Like many players in the market, Renault wants to compete with Citroën and its little AMI. With this Mobilize Duo we find the same structure as Twizy. So we have the concept of a 4-wheel scooter, available without a license from 14 years with a version limited to 45 km/h. In addition, there is a more advanced version with a speed limit of up to 80 km/h and a range of about 80 km/h. Versions in the utility format can also accommodate a 700-liter box in the rear.

Inside is a car equipped with airbags, USB-C charging, and ventilation and defogging. A full-fledged car for trips around the city. Mobilize Duo will be available by the end of 2023.

Microlino, a descendant of the BMW Isetta

We introduced this car to you last June on AutoPlus.fr. The Microlino is designed by the Swiss manufacturer Micro, which is particularly known for its electric scooters. Here we find a heavy quad bike that recalls the stylistic codes of the BMW Isetta of 1955. A chic and elegant microcar.

We’re here with a microcar that truly lives up to all the Citroën AMI codes of being a versatile and practical small car. But to stand out from its AMI competitor, the Microlino showcases very high-quality interior features. For example, we find a 5-inch screen, quality materials and a very neat finish for a top-class product. Also, the Microlino is aimed at a clientele other than the youth, as a driver’s license will be required for this car, which can reach speeds of 90 km/h. Three levels of autonomy have been announced with an autonomy of 91 km, 177 km or 230 km.

A very versatile microcar that can provide circulation both in the city and beyond. Obviously, all this comes at a price, as the Microlino is available from €14,990 (before bonus). Therefore, it is twice as expensive as the Citroën AMI.

Silence S04, a combination of car and scooter

We know the Spanish brand Silence for its electric scooters, in particular the S01 +, but you should know that the Catalan manufacturer also offers the S04 in its catalog. The model is not new, as the manufacturer has already presented it at subsequent exhibitions, but thanks to the success of the S04 microcars, it is back in the spotlight.

We find there a car that makes us think of the Renault Twizy with this lightweight quad bike. This 100% electric two-seater city car is available in two versions: one unlicensed, limited to 45 km/h (6 kW), and the other licensed (90 km/h and 14 kW). All for a power reserve of about 150 km.

And above all, Silence wants to offer a product that remains affordable. The S04 is available from €7,500 before the eco bonus, which is still quite a budget, but at the price of the Citroën AMI, this Silence 04’s main competitor.

La Bagnole, simple and effective

We end this review with this model, which is not really a microcar, but like the others, offers a new form of mobility. But this time outside the cities. The Bagnole is its name, a car developed by the Kilow brand, which with this vehicle offers an electric, fun and, above all, license-free product.

A car that is available from 14 years and without a license and that accepts buggy codes. The manufacturer removed everything superfluous in this car. So you’ll find the bare minimum, which is a steering wheel, seats, a very refined body and a trailer in the back to store your stuff.

Here you will find a car that weighs only 350 kg, which is very light for an electric car. There are 2 versions available: one limited to 45 km/h and intended for those without a license, and the other limited to 80 km/h and therefore available with a license.

But with this model, the Kilow brand offers a concept that also redefines mobility outside the city limits, with a car that is perfect for daily use and capable of going anywhere off-road for pleasure. The definition of fun driving.
For those who are interested and know that the car is available from 9990 euros.
