Outside and inside, the electric Kangoo is almost identical to the thermal one
From the side of appearance, we distinguish it Renault Kangoo E-Tech electric thermal versions through its grid, now almost complete. But the rest of the exterior is similar, and the Renault logo (which remained interesting old man) contains a charging port. It’s generally the same inside, where you can always note the progress in the finish of this new generation Kangoo compared to the older models. The battery slips under the back seat, the volume of the trunk is not affected. It is better to climb a little and reach 850 liters advertising. But the big novelty remains the rear seat now slides over 14 cm.
Low battery life… but beats the competition
Therefore, we are obviously interested in the technical side. Like the Kangoo Van E-Tech, the MPV version has a 120 hp engine. 45 kWh battery. It is smaller than the Zoe, and therefore the autonomy is not logically gigantic. Renault announces approximately 285 km on the WLTP cycle. Of course, it will be enough for everyday trips, but it will have to be ironed for family vacations. Moreover, recharging is limited to 80 kW, which, according to Renault, would restore 170 km in half an hour of charging.
Figures that do not impress the gallery, but which are enough to slightly surpass direct competitors. Indeed, Stellantis has had many months since MPVs went electric. These are Citroën ë-Berlingo and Peugeot e-Rifter a little more powerful (136 hp), but back to Kangoo E-Tech WLTP range 5 km. Another advantage of Kangoo over competitors: heat engines remain in the catalog.
Renault Kangoo E-Tech Electric: what are the prices?
Renault has yet to announce pricing for its electric Kangoo E-Tech. But its utility equivalent, the Kangoo Van E-Tech, is available from €33,600. So count roughly not less than 35,000 euros for the starting prices for this new Kangoo, the price is globally in line with the competition… But around €10,000 more than the thermal access version, excluding the environmental bonus.
