Speed cameras have been present on the sides of our roads for many years. But the more time passes, the more difficult it is to slip through the cracks. Truth be told, our room for error is getting smaller and smaller as the number of cabins increases. And there are all kinds: standard fixed speed cameras, mobile devices, turrets, sections or even on-board vehicles that are now hidden in unmarked cars. In short, it is difficult to avoid verbalization, which often goes hand in hand with the loss of points. And it shouldn’t improve, while the radar fleet will continue to grow over the next year.

The number is growing
Indeed, and as detailed on the website radars-auto.comthe total number of speed cameras installed along our French roads will be increased to 5,600 over the next few months. Record. However, not all types will be in the same boat. Indeed, there will be fewer classic stationary cabins, as 200 will be removed, replaced by more modern and efficient units. This especially applies to discriminating radars, which will be a hundred more next year. 200 autonomous radars additional ones will also be deployed, bringing the total to 600. One hundred tower radars will also be installed, as well as 600 urban radars, their smaller and less visible equivalent.

So many radar cars
On the other hand, and this may seem surprising, the number of radar cars and mobile radars next year will not change compared to 2022. The same applies to section radars, which will not move, and level crossing radars, of which there are 50 in France. On the other hand, 100 red light cameras will be removed, replaced by famous ones turrets. Suffice it to say, you better be careful on the road!
An automatic speed camera on the RD 137 in St Sulpice d’Arnoult has been scaring drivers in recent days by flashing as they obeyed the speed limit!
This radar was undergoing maintenance. Therefore, there will be no verbalization. Thanks to the whistleblowers!– Gendarmerie of Primorsky Charante (@Gendarmerie_017) September 16, 2021
