Alpine continues to work on its future. The developer will be soon 100% electric, but does not want to abandon his sports ambitions, on the road as on the track. And at the Paris Motor Show, Alpine is free, withAlpenglow : concept of hydrogen racing car.

This isn’t the first time Alpine has surfed this theme. The Alpine A4810 hydrogen hypercar concept has already been developed in collaboration with the design school. And the proportions of the Alpenglow, by the way, are not too far from the A4810. At over 5m long, 2m wide, but above all less than 1m high, we are well in the field here extreme racing car. So there is no doubt about finding Alpenglow in production.
Is the weather coming soon?
But as is often the case with concept cars, certain visual elements should be found in future models in the range. It certainly won’t be an exact copy: the Alpenglow optics are red at the front and blue at the back, not exactly road-legal…
But the forms must remain. At the front a light strip emphasizes the pronounced edge of the shield, with a very geometric shape. on the limbs two inverted triangles replace the usual round optics of the brand. On the outside, there are classic headlights, and in the center there is a repetition of the secondary optics of the A110, which is a hint of the fog lights of the first berlinettas. Very futuristic in this concept, but the deposit is still visible.
The rear is more reminiscent of the endurance world, specifically the Alpine A480 24 Hours of Le Mans prototype with vertical slats. Alpine does not forget its commitment to this discipline. And Alpenglow can be seen as an evocation the future hypercar races, which Alpine should enter in 2024, with aggressive and aerodynamic shapes not too far from the rival Peugeot 9X8.
Alpine Alpenglow: transparent elements, recycled carbon and hydrogen!
The concept obliges, Alpine has worked on details, sometimes intriguing. sothe rear spoiler is transparent. The same applies to the pedals and paddles on the steering wheel in the cockpit and other technical details. The goal: to make Alpine’s own lightness more visual, but also to make to discover a highly technical universe still inaccessible to enthusiasts “.
The cockpit is very simple and can accommodate only the pilot. According to Alpine, the racing steering wheel itself will inspire future productions of the brand. The the next electric A110but alsothe expected R5 Alpine and the future Sports SUV. There is no further information on these models yet, but we do know that they will not use the technical solution chosen for the Alpenglow. If recycled carbon is possible, then a conceptual hydrogen-powered hybrid internal combustion engine is unlikely. However, technically it would not be so difficult to set up: other manufacturers are already working on it, have functional prototypes. But energy efficiency a heat engine on water since the fuel is much weaker than a fuel cell as uses e.g Toyota Mirai.
Soon at the Paris Motor Show
A significant advantage of the Alpine Alpenglow engine: it allows you to save the sound and emotions of the heat engine, without CO2 emissions. If mass production looks, as we have already said, very difficult, its adoption for a racing model is already more possible. Alpine, on the other hand, is not disclosing no technical information from the power of this hybrid unit or the weight of the Alpenglow.
