This is good news for consumers, car rental prices are falling. The readings are provided by the online comparator Carigami and shared by our colleagues from Parisian. After the summer, rental companies offer particularly high prices more reasonable prices. Good news a few days before All Saints’ Day.

Rent a car, a significant drop in prices

Therefore, at the beginning of October, prices fall significantly. According to comparator Carigami, renting a car for a week will cost you about 390 euros. This is 36% less compared to this summer. Among the regions where the drop is the greatest, we find Corsica, where prices have fallen by 76% in Ajaccio and by 67% in Bastia.

It’s the same in Europe, where prices are plummeting. Thus, again according to Carigami, car rental prices in Italy have fallen by 93%. This is the largest drop observed in Europe. The same observation in Spain, where prices have fallen by 45% since this summer. Such a decrease in prices is explained by a significant drop in demand, in particular due to inflation.

Car rental, the price is constantly increasing

If the drop in prices is significant and rather positive for purchasing power, the fact remains the fact prices remain high. According to research carried out by Carigami over the past few months, car rental prices increased by 43% between 2019 and early 2022. Paces that thus remain well above the two-year average.

Rental companies especially suffer from difficulties in gaining access to the stock of new vehicles. Manufacturers are still suffering from a shortage of components. Thus, this tension in the car rental market should decrease along with renewal of the car fleet next year. But prices should remain high in the coming weeks and months.
